ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains a safe working environment by ensuring all employees understand and follow all safety rules. Walks railroad tracks, identifying deficiencies in track infrastructure and preparing proposal and pricing documents for correcting those deficiencies for the customer. Reads and analyzes requests for proposals and develops professional responses for new construction work. Maintains a positive relationship with the customer by providing a high level of service and meeting the goals set by the customer and Ameritrack. Manages the operation ensuring that all conditions of the proposal are met. Manages inventory and vendor orders for jobs, ensuring all materials are on site in a timely fashion. Motivates and maintains a high level of morale among employees. Maintains thorough knowledge of operating procedures, safety rules, and rail construction operations. Ensures that payroll, fuel costs, equipment costs, and other costs are managed effectively; properly maintains the purchase order system; develops and follows a preventive maintenance program for all equipment with assistance from the mechanical department. Assists in arranging work schedules so that each crew has a balanced mix of experience and appropriate expertise in all job types. Performs administrative duties including evaluation forms, filing reports required by the customer and the company (e.g., PO requests, safety audits, month‑end reporting, progress billing, end‑of‑project billing). SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct crews as to the work to be accomplished, making sure that crews have all the necessary information to complete the work on a timely basis. Provide support to the crews throughout the project. QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write professional proposals, routine reports, and customer correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs; use a calculator. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with standard problems that occur in a construction environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Walk extensively, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must work in varied weather conditions. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment characteristics include frequent walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and occasional lifting, along with exposure to various weather conditions.
