Workers’ Compensation Paralegal - Fort Myers, FL
Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 per year (Base Pay)
About the Role The Workers’ Compensation Paralegal will support attorneys by handling a variety of tasks to assist with workers’ compensation cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in workers’ compensation law, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist attorneys in managing workers’ compensation cases from inception to resolution.
Draft, file, and serve pleadings, motions, and other legal documents in compliance with court rules.
Conduct client interviews to gather case-related information and maintain regular communication with clients regarding case updates.
Coordinate and manage the discovery process, including obtaining and organizing medical records, preparing discovery responses, and summarizing depositions.
Schedule and coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials.
Prepare hearing and trial notebooks and assist attorneys during hearings and trials.
Monitor case deadlines and maintain the attorney’s calendar to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Perform legal research and compile information to support case strategy.
Manage electronic and physical case files, ensuring all documents are properly organized and up-to-date.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, with specific experience in workers’ compensation preferred.
Paralegal certification or degree from an accredited program.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software (e.g., Clio, ProLaw, or similar).
Familiarity with Florida workers’ compensation statutes and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
High attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
