Position Summary: Repairs, refurbishes, paints, and decals company trucks, trailers, cars, forklifts as needed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, replace or ensure the repair of paint/body damage

Diagnose paint/body damage, determine supplies needed and order through the parts room

Paint all company forklifts or ensure the painting is done

Repair, refurbish, or ensure repair/refurbishment (by welding) of aluminum/steel floors/bumpers, mud flap brackets, brazings and other parts on trucks, trailers, forklifts, tow motors, golf cart trailers as needed

In preparation for painting: Perform or ensure the performance of blocking, sanding and feathering. Ensure all cracks are welded, vehicle is cleaned with air hose, tape is used as needed, and vehicle is wiped down

Prepare or ensure the preparation of vehicles for body shop

Repair or ensure repair of all items not meeting DOT requirements; inform supervisor if not immediately repairable

Assist Lead Paint & Body Technician in preparing preplanned 40-hour schedules for Paint/Body Repair Technicians

Strictly enforce and adhere to strict safe working practices, company policies, rules, regulations, correct hazards immediately or report to supervisor if not immediately correctable

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent

Automotive/Mechanical Trade or Vocational certification preferred

3+ years of paint and body repair experience

Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude is a plus

Valid Texas Driver’s License and driving record within MVR policy guidelines

Supply automotive hand tools (not including heavy duty or diagnostic tools)

Experience with HVLP paint procedures

Some fabrication and welding ability preferred

Physical Requirement

Talk, hear, and see (including close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus)

Frequent climbing, pushing, pulling and maneuvering dolly, hand truck, bay roll up doors, straps, curb ramps, truck doors, boxes, cases, kegs, truck gear shift

Ability to enter and exit the driver’s compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normally available footholds and handholds

Ability to move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds

Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to inspect or wash vehicles

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

Ability to hear voice commands in areas with high level of background noise

Ability to safely handle large trucks in a critically safe and precise manner within very constrained and compact spaces

Working Conditions

All weather conditions (indoor & outdoor) including high temperatures, cool/cold temperatures, wind, ice, humidity, rain, fog, hail, sleet and snow

Daylight, twilight, evening and dark lighting conditions

Noise, vibration, dust, dirt, airborne particles, fumes

Work hours will vary daily due to business needs
