An established rural planning and design consultancy is seeking an Associate Planning Director to lead and deliver a range of complex, high-impact planning projects across the UK. This is a chance to shape sensitive rural and mixed-use developments, working collaboratively with in-house design, landscape, and development specialists.
You’ll play a key role in guiding strategy, mentoring talented planners, and supporting the continued growth of a respected and forward-thinking practice.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage diverse planning projects, ensuring quality, innovation, and timely delivery
Provide strategic planning advice across residential, commercial, leisure, and rural sectors
Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear, confident communication
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to long-term company growth
Collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated design and planning solutions
Mentor and support junior colleagues, promoting a culture of learning and creativity
What You’ll Bring
7+ years' post-qualification experience in planning, ideally with leadership or management responsibility
MRTPI accreditation (or equivalent professional qualification)
Strong technical understanding of UK planning legislation and rural policy
Proven ability to deliver complex projects with sensitivity and commercial awareness
Excellent interpersonal, client engagement, and presentation skills
A proactive, collaborative, and adaptable approach
Benefits
£50k - £60k based on experience plus benefits
