Reporting to a Director of Sales, the

Cartilage Business Development Manager

is responsible for exceeding sales/case volume objectives and growing the Sports Medicine Biologics business, specifically the cartilage repair portfolio, within assigned Area, by driving increased usage and new customer conversions. The position requires the ability to assimilate and deliver a high level of technical information as it relates to Biologics products. This role also serves as a leader of Biologics for sports medicine in the capacity of product matter expert, trainer, and mentor to other sales reps.

What will you be doing? In this role, you'll lead sales execution and surgical support for our cartilage repair products, driving growth through both existing and new customer acquisition. You'll provide hands‑on surgical case coverage, HCP training, and inventory management, while delivering accurate forecasts and representing the portfolio at key events. Collaboration is essential—you'll partner across teams to identify Biologics opportunities, share expertise, and support targeted education initiatives. You'll also maintain clean business practices through timely reporting, training completion, and expense compliance.

What will you need to be successful?

Bachelor's degree required; preferred fields include Business, Marketing, Biology, or a related medical discipline

Minimum 6 years of direct sales experience, with at least 4 years in a medical or hospital environment; experience in cartilage repair and orthopedics (sports medicine or knee reconstruction) strongly preferred

Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas in complex, team-based selling environments

Deep knowledge of surgical techniques, biologics, and competitive technologies; ability to serve as a trusted product and content expert

Strong collaboration skills with experience partnering across cross‑functional teams, including surgeons, nurses, administrators, and sales colleagues

Comfort working in operating rooms and ASC settings, with a focus on surgical support, training, and case coverage

Excellent communication, forecasting, and business planning skills, with attention to timely reporting and compliance

Self‑driven, organized, and committed to continuous learning, including timely completion of training modules and certifications

Travel Requirements: Travel within designated sales territory with 50‑70% travel, depending on the geography of the territory. Infrequent national travel for events and conferences.

All field sales professionals who are required to gain entry into healthcare facilities to perform the basic remit of their role must successfully complete the credentialing process and comply with the requirements of those facilities they support, which can include adherence to any established vaccine protocols.

The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $60,000 - $100,000 USD annually. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job‑related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role at Smith+Nebrew. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. In addition to base compensation, this position is eligible for sales commission and incentives based on set targets. The target commission for this position is anticipated to be $80,000 - $100,000. The commission earned will depend on the candidate's performance in the role.
