About the role Cracker Barrel is our camp’s rotating mystery activity. As the Cracker Barrel Counselor, you’ll own the planning, prep, instruction, and breakdown of these experiences, creating playful, high-energy moments that are safe, inclusive, and spoiler-proof.
Responsibilities
Plan and facilitate age-appropriate mystery activities.
Teach rules, model fair play, and scaffold with hints; keep experiences inclusive by adapting roles, rules, or equipment for varied abilities.
Manage safety, follow camp sanitation and allergy guidance.
Coordinate with Counselors/Junior Counselors for roles, group movement, and timing so surprises land on schedule.
Monitor environment and facilities; identify and report hazards/maintenance issues; complete incident/accident reports as directed.
Track inventory and request supplies within budget/approval; maintain tidy storage and documentation for reruns.
Meet or exceed ACA practices and Virginia child day program licensing standards.
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality; be punctual, prepared, and flexible; perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director or designee.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading youth enrichment.
Creative planner with strong facilitation and classroom-management skills; calm, upbeat communicator under pressure.
Organized, detail-oriented systems thinker
Pediatric First Aid/CPR (or able to obtain before the season and maintain throughout employment).
Eligibility:
Must be at least 18 years old by the first day of employment and able to pass required background checks per School and Virginia regulations.
