Citarella - The Ultimate Gourmet Market has grown from a respected NYC fish market into a full‑scale, Ultimate Gourmet Market with locations across New York City, the Hamptons, and Greenwich, Connecticut. A family‑run business, we delight customers with the finest selection of fresh seafood, prime, dry‑aged beef, chef‑prepared specialties and handcrafted pastries, international cheeses, imported groceries, and more.
As a member of the Receiving team, we expect team members to possess a vast knowledge of all grocery items we carry. They will deliver exceptional guest service, be responsible for display items for the department, monitor waste, and be a strong team player.
Responsibilities & Duties
Help department to maximize sales by providing exceptional guest service.
Increase sales by suggestively selling products to every guest.
Unload products from truck, break down pallets, take in deliveries, and separate product for sales floor and cooler.
Ensure all products meet Citarella standards prior to filling displays.
Perform product rotation, facing, restocking, and maintaining display.
Adhere to all DOH, DOA, and OSHA standards; handle chemicals (department cleaning and sanitizing solution).
Follow, maintain and perform safety and sanitation procedures throughout all shifts.
Communicate effectively with peers and management.
Maintain professionalism and treat everyone with respect and courtesy.
Maintain guest focus and forward facing attitude.
Adhere to all assigned duties by management team.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of 6 months to 1 year with packing, produce, guest service, and sales experience.
Exceptional guest service, organization, and merchandising skills.
Ability to retain product knowledge.
Sense of urgency and the ability to remain productive in a fast‑paced environment.
Problem‑solving skills.
Team player willing to assist fellow associates.
Additional Requirements
Report to work at scheduled time, be neatly groomed, and wear the correct uniform.
Occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 20–75 pounds.
Manual dexterity, visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Ability to work within temperature‑controlled environments.
Handling and controlling cleaning supplies.
Maintain a clean and safe environment by following Citarella and DOA standards.
Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Other duties may be assigned as business needs change.
