Position Summary

A growing payroll services firm is seeking a hands-on, strategic Sales Manager to lead a team of five sales professionals. This role focuses on selling payroll and related services to Brooklyn-based SMBs, driving new business growth, expanding existing accounts, and maintaining a consultative, relationship-driven sales approach. Ideal for a service-based B2B sales leader with strong coaching and pipeline management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of five sales reps, including field rides, call reviews, deal strategy, and weekly 1:1s
  • Manage full-cycle B2B services sales: prospecting, discovery/ROI analysis, proposals, negotiation, and closing
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline; drive key KPIs such as meetings, proposals, and close rates
  • Develop referral networks with accountants, bookkeepers, community groups, and local organizations
  • Partner with marketing on events, lunch-and-learns, networking, and sponsorship opportunities
  • Ensure smooth onboarding handoff for new clients and support early-stage client success
  • Stay up to date on NY payroll, tax, and compliance requirements (FLSA, NYS Paid Leave, W-2/1099, multi-state basics)

Skills & Education Required

  • 2–10+ years of B2B services sales (payroll, PEO, benefits, HR tech, merchant services, consulting, etc.)
  • Minimum 2 years in a sales lead or manager role
  • Demonstrated success selling to SMBs (5–250 employees)
  • CRM proficiency (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of service-based B2B sales cycles

Pluses

  • Existing network within Brooklyn’s SMB ecosystem
  • Familiarity with the local Jewish business community and calendar
  • Multilingual: Hebrew, Yiddish, Russian

Special Requirements

  • Local travel throughout Brooklyn is required
  • Valid driver's license preferred
