Phlebotomist and Specimen Processor

Full-Time

Monday - Friday 11:30am - 8pm and Saturday 9am - 2pm rotation (once/month)

$17.50 -$20.50/hour

The Phlebotomist and Specimen Processorwill be part of our Laboratory team andwork collaboratively with clinical staffwhile providing excellent service to patientsto obtain and process specimens.

Phlebotomistand Specimen Processor responsibilities:

  • Collect and/or preparelaboratory specimens for testing, includingblood and body fluids according standard operating procedures.
  • Verifytest requisitions by comparing orders in electronic medical record and resolvediscrepancies with nurse or provider.
  • Obtainblood by performing venipunctures.
  • Maintainspecimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures and track according to standard procedures.
  • Performrounds to collect specimens drawn by nursing in the pods and deliver to appropriate testing area in the Laboratory.
  • Perform waived testing for Covid, Flu, RSV, Strep A, Urine HCG and Urine drug screen.
  • Reconcilethe specimens being sent to our referencelaboratory.
  • Assist in maintaining supply inventories.
  • Responsible for complying with all company policies regarding adherence to OSHA, Chemical Hygiene, Infection Control, Blood Borne Pathogens, and HIPPA regulations while performing job-related duties as assigned.AssignInternational Classification of Disease system-10(ICD) CM codes according to AHA AMA Guidelines, CMS and NGS.

Phlebotomist and Specimen Processor education/experience:

High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

Phlebotomy Certification

One or more years of experiencein phlebotomist and specimen processor role.
