About the Role

As our Director of Finance, you’ll be the financial architect behind our next stage of growth—building the models, insights, and systems that help us scale smartly. From forecasting and cash flow management to driving profitability and ROI across channels, you’ll ensure our business moves quickly while staying financially sound. You’ll partner with the leadership team to bring clarity, discipline, and vision to every decision, enabling us to serve customers, expand into new markets, and maximize long-term impact.

Position: Director of Finance, Poppy & Peonies

Location: Remote

Salary: 60,000 – 110,000 CAD per year

Description

Overview and responsibilities are described by Bloom as part of the recruitment process for Poppy & Peonies. The role focuses on strategic financial planning, analysis, cash flow, compliance, and partnering with cross-functional teams to support growth and profitability.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Financial Planning & Growth: Develop and execute long-term financial strategy aligned with brand goals. Build financial models to assess new revenue channels. Evaluate capital investment opportunities and ROI. Support pricing, discounting, and promotional strategies with profitability analysis.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Tracking: Lead annual budgeting and monthly/quarterly re-forecasting; maintain rolling forecasts accounting for seasonality, marketing campaigns, and growth initiatives. Monitor and report on KPIs for eCommerce.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management: Manage liquidity and working capital to support inventory, marketing spend, and fulfillment cycles. Forecast cash needs around production and peak sales events; manage banking relationships and credit facilities.
Financial Compliance & Risk Management: Oversee accounting operations, tax compliance, and financial audits. Establish internal controls and policies; mitigate risks related to vendor contracts, FX, and supply chain disruptions.
Cross-Functional Business Partnering: Collaborate with Marketing to measure CAC, LTV, and campaign ROI. Partner with Merchandising & Product on margins, pricing, and assortment. Work with Operations & Supply Chain on forecasting and COGS optimization; provide leadership with financial insights.
Systems, Processes & Team Leadership: Implement or optimize financial systems; automate reporting; recruit and develop a scalable finance team.

What You Bring to the Table

Professional designation such as CPA, CA, CMA, or CFA.
Proven experience in a finance leadership role; prior experience in eCommerce, retail, fashion, or consumer goods preferred.
Strong FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and performance measurement skills; GAAP knowledge; financial modeling.
Experience managing audits, tax filings, and compliance activities.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; track record of scalable financial processes and systems.

Canada-based candidate required to join a remote team

Salary and Total Rewards

Annual salary: 120,000–160,000 CAD
Performance bonus
3 weeks of paid vacation per year
5 additional flex days
Health Spending Account: $1,500 CAD
Period & Menstrual budget: $250 CAD
Product allowance: $1,000 CAD
Home office setup allowance: $400 CAD
