A global freight forwarder is expanding its projects and industrial logistics division in Houston and is seeking an experienced Air & Ocean Project Cargo Specialist. This role offers the opportunity to manage complex, oversized, and high-value shipments across international trade lanes, supporting clients in industries that drive Houston’s economy including oil & gas, energy, renewables, and industrial projects.

The Opportunity

As Project Cargo Specialist, you will lead the planning and execution of out-of-gauge (OOG), breakbulk, and heavy lift shipments by both air and ocean. You’ll leverage a strong global carrier network to arrange charters, multi-modal routings, and customized transport solutions for clients requiring precision and compliance. With exposure to EPC contracts, engineering firms, and major industrial projects, this is a high-impact role for a specialist who thrives on detail and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end execution of OOG, breakbulk, and heavy lift shipments across air and ocean
• Coordinate charter vessels and aircraft with global carriers, agents, and vendors
• Prepare and execute method statements, risk assessments, and detailed project plans
• Ensure full compliance with U.S. import/export regulations, Incoterms, hazmat, and customs requirements
• Provide on-site supervision for port, terminal, and airport operations when required
• Partner with sales teams to support RFQs, RFPs, and complex project tenders
• Build relationships with EPCs, oil & gas majors, and industrial clients to grow project business

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in project cargo forwarding with focus on OOG, breakbulk, and heavy lift shipments
• Technical knowledge of air and ocean project logistics, chartering, and global trade lanes
• Familiarity with CargoWise or similar project logistics platforms
• Strong understanding of Incoterms, compliance, hazmat, and customs procedures
• Excellent coordination, vendor management, and client-facing communication skills
• Ability to manage time-critical and high-value shipments under pressure
