Product Design Lead, User Experience/Product Designer Location: New York, NY (Hybrid 3 days a week). At BNY, our culture empowers you to grow and succeed. Core Responsibilities Lead the strategy and design of one of our most critical financial products, working closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to shape user‑centered experiences and drive impactful outcomes. Qualifications & Experience User‑Centered Design – Lead with a user‑first approach, ensuring all design choices address user needs, behaviors, and insights from research. Drive a seamless and intuitive product experience by deeply understanding our users. Journey Mapping – Map and analyze end‑to‑end user journeys across customers, operations, servicing teams, and systems to identify pain points, key moments, and opportunities for improvement. Interaction and UI Design – Demonstrate mastery in designing complex web interfaces and workflows, creating products that are highly functional and visually engaging. Use thought‑out animation and micro‑interactions to guide users. Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align design efforts with business goals, transforming complex requirements into clear, functional design solutions that respect technical constraints. Proficiency in Design Tools – Possess advanced skills in tools such as Figma and Miro to create high‑fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and mockups that clearly communicate interaction models and UI specifications. Design System Knowledge – Experience with and contribute to a global design system that ensures visual consistency across interfaces, developing reusable components and workflow patterns. Complex Systems Knowledge – Bring an understanding of the unique challenges of designing and maintaining complex systems, distilling intricate requirements into clear design solutions that facilitate user understanding and interaction. Effective Communication and Storytelling – Articulate design concepts and rationale to diverse stakeholders, making complex ideas accessible and engaging the product vision. Mentorship and Leadership – Guide junior designers, provide constructive feedback, and elevate team standards, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. Portfolio Requirements Showcase design work that demonstrates the expertise described above. A portfolio could include a publicly viewable Figma link or other high‑fidelity prototypes. Desired Experience Typically 10+ years of experience, with previous work in regulated spaces such as finance, health, or insurance. The base salary for this position is expected between $100,000 and $246,000 per year, with additional potential earnings from commissions, bonuses, and incentive packages.
