Responsibilities Senior Commercial Banking Specialist performs advanced administrative functions to support commercial banking activities, facilitating efficient operations, optimizing relationship management, executing compliance and collections procedures, and serving as a client contact. The role includes training and coaching Commercial Banking Specialists and demonstrates the Ameris Vision, Purpose, Expectations and Values.
Strictly adheres to Bank Secrecy Act requirements and applies organizational policies and procedures.
Maintains electronic records and prepares transactions in Customer Relationship Management software.
Thoroughly collects customer and prospect financials, including loan applications, tax returns, income statements, bank statements and other relevant data.
Reviews financials to identify discrepancies, verifies accurate information, and resolves issues.
Monitors reports to identify maturing and delinquent accounts.
Admins the renewal and collections processes for assigned customer portfolio.
Maintains records and obtains documentation in compliance with internal controls, operational procedures and risk management policies.
Identifies business development and cross-sell opportunities and makes referrals.
Drafts letters and agreements.
Reviews the work of Commercial Banking Specialists and provides assistance and training.
Maintains knowledge of banking products, programs, services and promotions.
Facilitates loan approval processes and prepares documents for the Officer Loan Committee.
Monitors customer experience, identifies opportunities for improvement, and resolves complex problems to ensure customer service excellence.
Develops prospecting and marketing materials, schedules meetings and coordinates events.
Serves as liaison with clients, internal and external contacts to facilitate communication and assist with loan closing and account opening processes.
Works to understand root causes of complex customer service issues and implements resolutions.
May accompany Commercial Relationship Managers on meetings and appointments to assist with relationship management and support account opening or loan closing processes.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency.
Demonstrates leadership skillset with ability to coach and mentor.
Thorough knowledge of banking policies, procedures, products and services.
Professional communication skills with clear, persuasive language.
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
High level of interactive customer service and relationship building.
Commitment to quality customer service and ability to meet or exceed service goals.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to research, analyze, identify viable options and present findings.
Industry and Work Experience
5 or more years of experience as a Commercial Banking Specialist or equivalent position.
Banking compliance or risk management experience preferred.
Academic
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent education and related training or experience required.
