NOTE:
Projected hours for the duration of employment are approximately 120 hours. The position is required to be in-person and work for all operational hours of the festival, happening May 15-17, 2026.
DESCRIPTION:
This position oversees the operations of the alcohol beverage stations for the Living Traditions Festival, a free and public festival which has served upwards of 30,000 members of the public each year for 39 years. The Beverage Lead directly supports the Performing Arts Program Manager, operating in whatever capacity necessary to ensure successful execution of the beverage stations, among other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Planning & Execution
Preparation and management of the beverage stations during the Living Traditions Festival, including coordinating server shift needs with Volunteer Lead and collaborating with recruitment and training materials.
Consulting on necessary beverage area setup with Production Lead.
Creating alcohol menus with fair pricing.
Ordering and purchasing the correct amount of beverages from the distributor(s) and DABS Liquor Store(s).
Assisting with developing a relationship with alcohol distributor(s).
Picking up and delivering the beverages for the festival as needed.
Stocking and maintaining the beverages during the festival hours.
Overseeing beverage stations onsite for the duration of the open hours of the festival.
Maintaining cleanliness of beverage stations.
Training and overseeing server volunteers onsite. Ensuring proper breaks are taken.
Organizing, inventorying and cleaning up beverages and beverage stations at the completion of the Living Traditions Festival.
Returning any unsold beverages to the distributor(s) following the festival if possible.
In addition to limited preparation hours, this position must be present for the duration of the Living Traditions Festival at Washington Square and the adjacent Library Square. The festival dates and hours are as follows:
Thursday May 14th: Setup hours TBD
Friday May 15th: Noon-5pm load-in and setup; 5pm-10pm festival hours
Saturday May 16th: Noon-10pm festival hours
Sunday May 17th: Noon-7pm festival hours
Monday May 18th: Load-out hours TBD
Other Duties as Assigned
This may include a variety of tasks and responsibilities such as assisting other key festival staff and vendors, supporting the execution of logistical plans, and other duties related to the production of the Living Traditions Festival.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Must have experience in working for large scale festivals or events. Must have experience working in a bar, catering and or/food service environment.
Prefer experience managing a team.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Must have Utah server-seller certification (sips and tips).
Must have familiarity with Utah alcohol laws and permitting requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written & verbal) required.
Professional and positive attitude and demeanor (tact, sensitivity, positivity, and diplomacy).
Detail oriented, able to audit work to avoid mistakes, and perform tasks accurately.
Ability to think and act quickly under pressure.
Knowledge in project management and teamwork.
Able to lift upwards of 50 pounds and sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. During the festival, this position requires long hours during the summer with demanding physical labor requirements.
