The City of Danville is seeking Utility Worker for our Mass Transit Department.
The Utility Worker is responsible for cleaning, filling fluids and fueling all Mass Transit vehicles, probe and empty fareboxes, clean facility offices, garage area, and transfer zone facility. This position assists in the effort to maintain safe and reliable vehicles.
Normal Work Hours: 1:30pm-10:30pm Mon-Wed-Th-Fri; 11am-8pm Sat, subject to change

$20.34 to start; $22.60 after successful completion of probationary period
Duties / Responsibilities The following examples are illustrative of the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Probe fareboxes and empty contents into vault.
Complete thorough daily cleaning of all buses both inside and out. Fuel all buses, including fuel additive in buses, as needed. Fuel any vehicles from other properties that are authorized to use DMT fuel.
Park all DMT vehicles according to the following days’ schedule.
Be knowledgeable about all types of equipment at facility including fire equipment.
Sweep and wash the floors in the shop and parking bays of the DMT facility.
Clean DMT shop area and restrooms.
Regularly clean DMT office areas, DMT employees’ break room area, including restrooms. Empty trash, dust, vacuum, or mop floors. As directed, perform other tasks such as cleaning windows.
Clean and maintain the transfer zone facility. This includes the passenger waiting area, restrooms, and boarding platforms.
Assist with minor maintenance‑related functions at the transfer zone facility. Perform light maintenance duties when requested. Assist with snow removal when necessary.
Responsible for securing the facility each service day, including all gates around the property.
Assist the Mass Transit Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor with other duties as directed or required.

Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent from a recognized educational institution.
Combination of education, training, and at least one (1) year experience as a maintenance or custodial worker.
Required Licenses:
The person holding this position must have the following licenses or be able to obtain the same within 30 days of their start date.
Illinois Class B CDL Vehicle Operators License with passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction.
Residency Requirements:
Unless otherwise dictated by a Collective Bargaining agreement, employees of the City must establish their principal residence in Illinois, within forty-five (45) miles of the City of Danville corporate limits within six months following successful completion of their probationary period.
