We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to grow our valve automation business, specifically motor operated actuators (MOV). As a Business Development Manager for industrial electric actuation, you will work with end users, engineering firms, suppliers, and our branch network to develop new customers and opportunities across the USA to meet and exceed annual budgets.

Responsibilities

Research and analyze business opportunities aligned with the organization’s long‑range and strategic plans.

Plan, prepare, and present business proposals; recommend actions to management.

Establish direct, consistent relationships with core suppliers, end customers, specifying engineers, and local branch associates.

Drive product specification and influence at early design stages as a value‑add aligned with Ferguson’s strategic product lines.

Conceptualize, prepare, build, and manage all aspects of the proposal process from inception to closing.

Create and build a backlog of future business through direct negotiation and collaboration with customer group sales and management teams.

Strengthen after‑sales service and support for customers.

Prepare regular reports communicating the status of proposals, negotiations, and contract awards.

Requirements

7+ years of outside sales or business development experience.

Strong product knowledge of industrial customers, valve types, valve automation, and motor operators.

Experience working directly with end users, engineering firms, and I&E shops and understanding how product selection and specification decisions are made.

Knowledge of project life cycle and ability to interpret project schedules and plans.

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work with peers and foster teamwork.

Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Self‑motivated with the ability to multi‑task and manage competing demands.

Planning and execution skills; ability to make timely decisions and use good judgment.

Willingness to travel across the USA to support customers and branches.

Pay Range:

$6,056.10 – $13,933.70 per month (salaried roles) or hourly for other roles. This role is bonus or incentive plan eligible.
