Survey Crew Chief
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily field operations:
Manage and lead the field survey crew in conducting land surveys. Plan efficient data acquisition:
Develop strategies for collecting survey data, from primary control surveys to construction layout and as-built surveys. Documentation:
Ensure proper documentation, including work performed and field sketches. Daily communication:
Report to the Project Surveyor and technician to keep them updated on schedules and progress. Client and landowner interaction:
Professionally communicate with clients and landowners as needed during survey activities. Interpretation of drawings and specs:
Read and understand construction drawings, project specifications, and tolerances related to the land survey. Reporting:
Prepare daily reports, time sheets, and other necessary paperwork. Vehicle and equipment maintenance:
Ensure the survey vehicle and equipment are properly maintained. Other tasks:
Perform any additional duties assigned by the organization. Requirements and Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the industry, with prior experience as a crew chief preferred. Equipment Proficiency:
Competence in operating total stations, GNSS receivers, data collectors, and tablet PCs. Experience with Trimble equipment is a plus. Technical Skills:
Strong computer skills and an aptitude for handling technical equipment. Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as good listening abilities. Teamwork and Work Ethic:
A proven track record of working well in teams, with a strong work ethic. Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel for extended periods, work in various weather conditions, walk long distances through different terrains, and carry up to 80 pounds. Driving and Background Check:
A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
