Risk Strategist - Global EnergyTech Market Leader
Andiamo, Houston, Texas, United States, 77246
Risk Strategist, Trading Systems and Analytics
This role sits within a global energy and commodities trading organization operating at exceptional scale. The business combines deep market expertise, sophisticated logistics, and advanced technology to move energy and commodities efficiently around the world. Technology teams play a critical role in supporting trading, risk management, and portfolio growth across regions.
This is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Houston, Texas, with in‑office collaboration required five days per week. The role includes regular travel to London to work closely with international engineering partners.
The Opportunity
As a Risk Strategist, you will be a core contributor to the build‑out of a next‑generation Risk and PnL engine within a commodity trading and risk management platform. This engine is being developed from the ground up to support rapidly expanding trading portfolios and increasingly complex risk requirements. You will operate at the intersection of front‑office trading, risk management, and software engineering. The work involves both technical execution and close partnership with business users, often tackling ambiguous problems where success depends on defining the right questions as much as delivering the right solutions. What You Will Be Responsible For
Leading the rollout of a new Risk and PnL engine to trading and risk teams across the Americas region. Serving as the primary on‑site representative for the risk engine development team, working closely with traders, risk managers, and local technology partners. Collaborating with a distributed development team based in London to deliver enhancements and region‑specific functionality. Building reports, tools, and workflows by leveraging core components of the risk engine and broader trading systems. Balancing business priorities with technical constraints in a fast‑paced front‑office environment. Helping shape the evolution of a greenfield platform that will become central to risk and performance management. What You Bring
Three or more years of enterprise‑level experience developing in C++ or a closely related language. Experience writing robust, maintainable, and extensible production code. Some professional experience using Python in an enterprise setting. Hands‑on exposure to front‑office risk systems or trading applications. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with full professional fluency in English. A strong sense of ownership, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. A bachelor or master degree in a technical discipline. What Will Help You Stand Out
Knowledge of derivative risk concepts, including option pricing and Greek risk measures. Experience working within energy or commodities markets. Why This Role Matters
You will help deliver a foundational risk and performance platform that directly supports trading decisions and global energy flows. The role offers deep exposure to markets, close collaboration with trading desks, and the opportunity to help shape a critical system from its earliest stages within a highly international and collaborative environment.
