Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Associate staff.

Daily management of labor and coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations.

Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our brand strategy and culture.

Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.

Smile and maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, easy, flexible and friendly service, creating a positive shopping experience.

Model outstanding, friendly customer service and use knowledge of department products to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers’ expectations.

Control store expenses through proper ordering, care of supplies and equipment.

Understand and use company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO) and business information systems.

Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety and sanitation are consistently maintained.

Ensure schedules are written to provide extraordinary customer service at all times.

Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and merchandising comply with policies and guidelines.

Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.

Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and report all accidents per Food Lion procedures.

Monitor shrink, coach associates on loss prevention.

Ensure proper use of advertising and sales promotion materials.

Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and standard practices.

Maintain security and personal appearance standards.

Successfully complete CBT, training packets and aid courses.

Meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A high school graduate or equivalent (preferred).

Ability to lead and manage a team.

Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques (preferred).

Effective communication, customer service and selling skills.

Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.

Ability to use technical information to solve problems.

Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.

Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or a similar organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or be able to achieve accreditation within 90 days of employment; accreditation must be maintained while employed.

Physical Requirements

Use computers and communication systems.

Push or pull up to 2000 lbs. using a pallet jack.

Flex and lift products up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, 50 lbs. on occasion.

Stand 100% of the time, walking short distances.

Handle substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials and household cleaners.

Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.

Reach and grasp at waist level, occasionally above shoulder or below waist level.

Meet established volume activity standards.

Tolerate extreme temperatures up to 20 minutes at a time.

Have sufficient visual ability to check invoices and other written documents.
