Friday – 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Intake Specialist Job Overview The Intake Specialist plays a vital role in IHC’s mission by ensuring all client income documentation, front‑office paperwork, charts, and billing are handled efficiently. The role collaborates closely with front office staff to provide excellent customer service to clients over the phone and in the lobby, completes billing paperwork, and prepares daily reports essential for clinic effectiveness.
Typical Responsibilities
Greets clients and visitors, assisting with check‑in.
Schedules appointments and educates clients on required documents.
Answers calls and accurately directs them.
Enter, maintain, and retrieve data on IHC’s computer system.
Uses the electronic medical record to assemble income documents and keep client information complete.
Completes daily batches, including migrant worker batches, ensuring superbills are complete.
Runs daily variance reports.
Determines eligibility and signs up clients for Medicaid or Medicare Part D, refers eligible clients to WIC programs.
Required Skills
Ability to interact with a diverse population of varying education levels, including children.
Positive customer service skills in person and over the phone.
Proficiency in patient scheduling, including walk‑ins, overbooking, and rescheduling.
Knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare requirements.
Initiative, prioritization, organization, and follow‑up.
High detail orientation and accuracy.
Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
Ability to juggle multiple requests and meet deadlines.
Team approach to problem solving.
Requirements
Completion of a standard high school diploma or equivalent.
One year of prior experience in an office or health‑related position.
