and offers a flexible 10-hour day schedule from Monday through Thursday, with a stable backlog of mainly local work and minimal travel. Supervise Survey Crew (1-2 staff crews) Keep accurate, organized, and complete field notes Communicate with office staff on a daily basis Operate and maintain robotic instruments, total stations, data collectors, GPS (fast static, RTK, and VRS), and digital levels Use and obtain historical data from property/utility records, deeds, land/property titles, structural plans, and other matrices for land surveying activities Follow state-specific standards of practice to provide professional survey assistance ensuring accurate survey data and compliance with applicable rules, standards, codes, boundaries, and construction specifications Assist with writing surveying reports summarizing site inspections and survey findings; generate documentation using photographs, sketches, calculations, software, spreadsheets, technical drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and reports Work collaboratively with engineers, scientists, project control, and technicians on assigned survey tasks Perform weekly instrument calibrations to maintain accuracy Ensure safety compliance with WSP and client-specific guidelines and maintain required safety documentation Coordinate with client personnel to schedule and coordinate project survey activities Stay current with latest survey knowledge, techniques, and practices Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent 7+ years of relevant post-education experience with surveying, including easements, rights of way, plats, topographic, boundary surveys, property descriptions, and GPS surveys Excellent communication, field notes, math skills, and ability to work as a one-person crew as necessary Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural, or urban surroundings Experience with both public and private sector work (state, city, county, utility districts, and private land development) Competent self-leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic work environment Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s motor vehicle screening, including a valid driver’s license Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol/harassment policies Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Leica-based survey equipment (preferred but not required) Knowledge of various DOT survey and SUE experience Transmission and distribution line survey experience Knowledge of FAA sUAS Part 107 requirements and sUAS pilot licensure with flight experience Associates degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related areas Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook About WSP
