Salary Range: $80 – $90 per hour

Vision To Learn is a leading nonprofit that provides eye exams and glasses to students in underserved communities at no cost. As part of a mobile clinical team you will deliver high‑quality eye exams and help distribute glasses to students, making a tangible impact on learning and future opportunities.

Position Description

Qualified optometrist licensed to practice in Washington, DC, working up to 2 days per week in a mobile clinic setting.

Key Position Responsibilities

  • Provide vision evaluations: check visual acuity, assess binocular vision, intra‑ocular pressure, pupils, perform full refraction, prescribe correction, and assess ocular health
  • Prescribe vision devices and guide patients on proper use of all applicable equipment
  • Document patient diagnosis accurately in internal systems

Qualifications

  • Washington, DC optometry license
  • Flexibility to commute throughout the greater Washington, DC area as required by the mobile clinic schedule
  • Pass a Department of Justice background check (LiveScan) and drug test

Benefits & Work Environment

  • Competitive pay: $80–$90 per hour
  • Flexible schedule with no nights, no weekends, and no federal holidays (other than select voluntary exceptions)
  • Mileage reimbursement

Clearance Requirements

Employees must pass a Department of Justice background check/fingerprinting (LiveScan), child abuse history clearance, TB test, and drug test.
