Technical Sales Manager – Life Sciences, Manufacturing; Cell & Gene Therapy
Location: Remote, USA, with Travel. Territory: East Coast. Preferred location: Boston, MA.
The Technical Sales Manager will drive new business and expand technically complex accounts within the Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) segment. They will directly engage with scientists, process development teams, executives, and incubator‑based startups to understand their manufacturing workflows and position our single‑use technologies, including cell culture containers and related products, as integral to their processes.
By combining technical credibility with a consultative sales approach, the Technical Sales Manager will prescribe fit‑for‑purpose solutions that align with customer requirements and manufacturing constraints.
Works closely with our internal applications lab (Life Sciences Cell Culture Lab) to design and execute customer‑facing lab activities, including product demonstrations, side‑by‑side comparisons, and technical evaluations that support the sales process.
Key Accountabilities
- New Business Development & Territory Growth (PLAN/DO): Identify and engage high‑value prospects, focusing on growing the customer base within the CGT segment. Manage full sales cycles from prospecting to contract closure.
- Technical Consultative Selling (DO): Lead technical discussions with customers, assess and troubleshoot manufacturing processes, and recommend product/process solutions. Work with the Life Sciences lab to develop demos, trials, and validation support.
- Strategic Account Management (CHECK/ACT): Manage relationships with key customers post‑sale. Address technical and commercial challenges, support scale‑up activities, and identify opportunities for upselling or expansion.
- Sales Forecasting, Pipeline Management, and VOC (CHECK/ACT): Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline management. Support new product launches by gathering Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback and providing field insights to internal teams.
Education
- BS in Technical, Engineering (e.g., Chemical, Bioengineering, etc.), Life Sciences or related field; Required .
- MS / MBA – Business Management, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Bioprocess or Chemical Engineering, Immunology; Preferred .
- PhD – Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Immunology, Biochemistry, Virology, Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field; Preferred .
Experience
- 2+ years’ experience within Sales and Business Development or Technical (Advisory/Consultative) role: Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Immunology, Biochemistry, Virology, Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field: Required .
- Exposure to cell therapy, immunotherapy, or related bioprocesses: Experience supporting/selling into workflows (e.g., T‑cell expansion, transduction, or aseptic fill finish): Required .
- Collaboration with Applications Scientists or Technical Support Teams: Experience partnering to execute demos, troubleshoot, or guide product evaluations: Preferred .
- Deep understanding of cell therapy manufacturing workflows (apheresis, activation, expansion, transduction, harvest, etc.) from pre‑clinical to commercial processes: Required .
- Familiarity with single‑use technologies (e.g., gas‑permeable culture bags, bioreactors, fluid transfer systems) used in CGT processes: Required .
- Familiarity with demo protocols, side‑by‑side comparisons, and technical trial design: Preferred .
- Valid Driver’s License – company vehicle provided.
- Able to travel upwards of 50%, Domestic & International: Required .

The national pay range for this position is $102,000 to $158,000 per year; the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
This role is eligible for participation in our Sales Incentive Plan, with a target award opportunity up to 40% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position is $142,800 to $221,200.
