The Mobile Diesel Technician I will be responsible for performing DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light repairs, and other duties as assigned. The technician may perform more advanced repairs under the supervision of a Mobile Diesel Technician II or higher. The Mobile Diesel Technician I assists higher‑level technicians, continues to learn advanced mechanical skills, and ensures quality audits are met. A successful Mobile Diesel Technician I complies with all company policies and achieves high‑level performance metrics.
DUTIES
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments on prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
Document according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings on repair orders (RO) using a company‑issued iOS device and the proprietary TRAIT application.
Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to most standard repair times.
Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates and retrieve purchase order numbers.
Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
Maintain company‑issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and daily pre/post‑trip inspections.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/GED and up to 2 years' experience in a related field.
Possess and supply a set of hand tools needed for job duties.
OEM training and certifications are preferred.
Participate in and complete all in‑company required training.
This position follows DOT/FMCSA regulations; candidates must successfully complete a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical before employment.
A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical; a card with ≤4 months requires a DOT physical.
Candidates must be at least 21 years or older due to interstate operating authority regulations.
Safe driver needed; valid driver's license required. Candidates must hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver's license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.

COMPENSATION Hourly base pay rate: $20.10 – $30.10 per hour. The rate may vary within this range based on location, skills, and experience. The position may also include additional compensation such as commissions or incentive programs.
Employees receive a minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off every month, seven paid holidays, and additional leave options for bereavement, voting, jury duty, volunteer time, military, and parental leave.
