Summary The Credit Underwriter issues credit decisions based on documented borrower profiles in line with program and client guidelines. The role meets daily production goals, quality targets, and audit standards within a transactional employee framework that provides flexible, project‑based work.

Responsibilities

Underwrite residential mortgage loans in accordance with Conventional guidelines.

Enter data and analyze findings in Loan Prospector, Desktop Underwriter, Asset Wise, other AUS engines, and OES.

Identify and assess overall risk and potential fraud exposure from clients' business practices.

Meet minimum daily production goals and quality targets, and adhere to department audit standards.

Review credit reports to determine credit patterns, liabilities, judgments, and collections.

Review residential mortgage appraisal forms and calculate Loan to Value ratios.

Analyze income from salaried, commissioned, self‑employed, investment, and fixed income sources.

Analyze asset statements for all types of asset accounts.

Work overtime and on weekends as required.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ability to work in a fast‑paced, metrics‑driven environment.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to prioritize multiple objectives to meet client deadlines and department goals.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Strong underwriting knowledge of Prime or standard full documentation.

In‑depth knowledge of HVCC, regulations, Truth in Lending, and Equal Credit Opportunity laws.

In‑depth knowledge of closing functions and RESPA.

Up‑to‑date knowledge of Fannie/Freddie guidelines, back‑end quality control, and fraud audit experience.

Proficiency with Desktop Underwriter (DU), Loan Prospector (LP), and other LOS systems.

Education High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate Degree or equivalent industry experience required.

Pay and Benefits Pay range: $66,560.00 – $83,200.00 per year.
