Range Explanation:
The Hiring Range is an estimate of the salary that may be offered based on experience, qualifications, education, licenses, training, and internal equity. The Pay Range represents the entire compensation range for the position.
Essential Functions
Responsible for other duties as assigned in support of the overall goals and functions of both the Human Resources Department and Pima County;
Organizes, conducts, and guides participants in classes, workshops, events, or programs in the specified area;
Uses computer skills for registration systems, creates reports, promotional materials, maintains records, and communications;
Provides training and monitors participants and other employees in proper use of exercise, recreation, and related equipment;
Assists with registration of participants using registration software;
Ensures safety and cleanliness of recreation facilities;
Requisitions supplies and monitors use and care of equipment and supplies;
Maintains Pima County property such as equipment, facilities, and supplies;
Maintains records and prepares reports;
May be required to collect money, prepare and make bank deposits, or process payments using registration software;
May be required to obtain and maintain a National Fitness Certification.
Minimum Qualifications
1,040 hours of experience in the specialized or specific recreation area (relevant education may be substituted for experience).
OR six months working in recreation and not less than 100 hours of experience working as a volunteer in the specialized or specific recreation area.
Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the Education and Work Experience sections of the application; do not substitute a resume or write “see resume” on the application.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum six months experience teaching or conducting recreation programs, classes, or workshops in a community/recreation center or senior living facility;
Experience planning and implementing special events;
Experience using recreational registration software or similar systems;
Minimum three months experience providing fitness classes.
Selection Procedure Pima County Human Resources reserves the right to admit only candidates meeting the minimum qualifications to the selection process. All applications are reviewed for education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated against preferred qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments or testing may be required as part of the selection.

Asset: a 39‑month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review will determine suitability to operate county vehicles. Failure to maintain required licenses or certifications is grounds for termination;
PR/AED/First Aid within two months of hire date;

Pre‑employment background checks, including verification of work history, education, and criminal convictions;
Physical and sensory requirements, as well as working conditions, will be determined by the position.
