Design Drafter I - Wilson Road
ASTEC, a global, environmentally focused infrastructure and manufacturing company dedicated to designing and building innovative asphalt road building and aggregate processing products, is seeking a Design Drafter for the Wilson Road project.
ABOUT THE POSITION Design and create engineering drawings for assigned projects. Prepare engineering drawings and perform calculations using AutoCAD and Inventor as instructed.
KEY DELIVERABLES
Accurate calculation of dimensions, weight limitations, and required materials.
Development of detailed designs with CAD software.
Identification of operational issues and redesign of products to improve functionality.
Ensuring final designs comply with regulations.
Preparation of references to illustrate workflow.
KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct basic and fundamental calculations for the selection of components for specific equipment or projects.
Direct and coordinate draftsmen working on specified equipment or projects.
Create detail and assembly drawings and perform general and overall layout work.
Write and release or supervise the drafting of specifications and bills of material as required.
Design new or special products and develop or modify the product line per design specifications.
Complete assignments on time per engineering release schedule.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Two‑year Mechanical Drafting/Design Technology Degree (required).
Experience in heavy equipment and/or structural design; proficiency with AutoCAD 2‑D and Inventor 3‑D CAD software (or similar like SolidWorks or Pro‑E) preferred.
Ability to operate drafting equipment and tools including CAD and Inventor systems.
Strong oral and written communication skills and teamwork ability.
Capability to work in heavy industrial settings, quarry/pit locations, and construction sites with associated air pollutants and noise.
Ability to climb on equipment to inspect and gather data.
