Senior Financial Investigator CGS Federal (Contact Government Services)

is seeking a Senior Financial Investigator to provide legal support and investigative services to a large federal agency. Candidates should be motivated, highly skilled, and collaborative, anticipating the needs of others and contributing to government innovation.

Base Pay Range $74,156.16/yr – $107,114.45/yr

Department Financial Investigation

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct investigations.

Perform quantitative, qualitative, or other analysis of relevant facts.

Prepare results to support the mission.

Develop and analyze evidence from investigators and law enforcement officers, and collect related information from primary and secondary sources.

Gather and analyze facts (statements, timelines, scientific or technical data) to advance prosecutorial objectives.

Establish and/or verify relationships among all facts and evidence to confirm authenticity, corroborate witness statements, and build proof necessary for successful litigation.

Provide analysis relevant to violations of federal law (e.g., money laundering, wire fraud, health care fraud, procurement fraud, and other fraud linked to federal programs).

Identify sources of information and multiple variables.

Conduct asset investigations, verify employment, and perform financial analysis to ensure the target can pay monetary penalties.

Develop understanding of applicable federal, state, or local law necessary to make sound decisions on the direction and scope of investigations.

Devise methods for obtaining, preserving, and presenting evidence.

Work with assigned Paralegals or Legal Assistants and supervisory attorneys to determine applicable statutory and regulatory law and identify possible violations.

Perform ancillary services in direct support of assigned cases and matters.

Use electronic databases to identify assets, documents, and other physical evidence.

Prepare interim and final reports on the progress of investigations.

Assist in the compilation and analysis of documents and physical evidence, and create charts, graphs, videotapes, and other audio‑visual materials for use in motions and trial.

Prepare affidavits and testify in court as required.

Advise on methods for planning, scheduling, and conducting investigations, and identify required resources.

Examine books, ledgers, payroll records, cost reports, billing statements, invoices, correspondence, computer data, and other records related to the transactions, events, or allegations under investigation.

Qualifications

Minimum of four years experience planning and conducting civil or criminal complex investigations concerning misuse of public, private, or insurance funds.

Working knowledge of current investigative techniques including the use of commercial databases and other sources of information.

Valid driver’s license.

U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain adjudication for the requisite background investigation.

Preferred Experience

Experience in law enforcement.

Experience analyzing, organizing, and presenting a large volume of data using common software programs.

Experience reviewing and understanding financial records.

Experience interviewing potential witnesses.

Previous experience with the United States Army, Department of Homeland Security, or other large federal agency.
