Coughtry Enterprises is seeking a highly organized and detail‑driven Real Estate & Property Management Accountant to oversee all financial operations across our property management portfolio, real estate investments, and sales team entities. This role will be responsible for end‑to‑end accounting, including Buildium property management bookkeeping, monthly tenant ledger reconciliations, investment tracking, budgeting, and producing accurate financial reports for leadership and our CPA. This is a key position that supports both operational clarity and strategic growth across the business. Responsibilities
Property Management
Manage all bookkeeping functions within Buildium, including income, expenses, and owner distributions Perform monthly tenant ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy across all properties Reconcile bank accounts, trust accounts, and operating accounts Review rent collections, late fees, credits, and adjustments Ensure compliance with trust accounting and property management best practices Real Estate
Track the financial performance of real estate investments, including acquisitions, renovations, and ongoing operations Maintain clean, organized records for all investment properties Assist with ROI analysis, cash flow tracking, and investment performance reporting Support financial preparation for buying, selling, and holding properties Company‑Wide Bookkeeping & Financial Oversight
Oversee accounting for the real estate sales team and related business entities Maintain a chart of accounts across all entities for consistency and accuracy Prepare and manage budgets for properties and business operations Monitor expenses and identify trends, discrepancies, or opportunities for improvement Reporting & CPA Coordination
Prepare monthly financial reports, including: Profit & Loss Statements Balance Sheets Cash Flow Reports Deliver clean, organized reports to ownership and external CPA on a monthly basis Support year‑end close and tax preparation processes Ensure financials are audit‑ready at all times Collaboration & Process Improvement
Work closely with leadership to provide financial insight and clarity Improve accounting systems, workflows, and documentation Recommend efficiencies and best practices across financial operations Qualifications
Required Qualifications
3‑5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (real estate strongly preferred) Strong experience with Buildium or similar property management accounting platforms Proven experience with tenant ledger reconciliation and trust accounting Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills Comfortable managing multiple entities and property portfolios Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with real estate investors or brokerages Knowledge of real estate transactions, closings, and investment structures Prior experience preparing financials for CPA review Accounting certification or degree (preferred but not required) Must have high school diploma or GED, college degree helpful but not required
