Who You Are
Must have knowledge of all Microsoft Office software programs
Must maintain a courteous, friendly, and helpful attitude with residents and staff members always
Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification at time of hire, or the ability to obtain within the first 30 days of employment
Current Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor certification through one of the nationally accredited industry associations (ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, etc.) required
1-2 years in the field preferred; specific experience working with older adults required
Ability to teach basic fitness, aquatic classes required
Familiarity with fitness equipment, including how to properly set adjustments, correct technique, and teach proper and safe usage
Ability to prescribe exercises safely and accurately for older adults using ACSM guidelines
Experience teaching yoga and chair-yoga is a plus
Essential Job Duties
Instructing and educating in a group and individual fitness setting
Provides resident customer service at the reception desk in the center
Perform administrative work as assigned by department
Identifies residents who may benefit from fitness programs
Assists residents and staff through the process of actively working towards better health by providing support, encouragement, and education in the areas of fitness, weight management, stress reduction, health and risk management and reducing barriers to reaching fitness goals
Assists with screening and establishes baselines for residents
Maintains exercise equipment in accordance with policy and reports any concerns to the Fitness Program Manager
Maintains adequate supplies and reports any foreseeable shortages to Fitness Program Manager
Assists with planning and implementation of resident wellness programs incentives and events
Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Sit or stand for extended lengths of time
Crouch, push, pull, reach, and kneel as necessary
Lift up to 50 pounds safelyMaintain balance necessary to prevent falling of self and resident
Perform repetitive movements
Use/demonstrate weightlifting equipment
Project one's voice in a classroom setting
