Chemist – Gas Chromatography Actalent is looking for a dedicated Chemist specializing in Gas Chromatography to deliver accurate analytical services and results. The position involves routine extraction, chemical isolation, and sample clean‑up using a variety of techniques and operating laboratory equipment such as blenders, nitrogen‑ and roto‑evaporators, shakers, pH meters, and centrifuges.

Responsibilities

Perform routine extraction, chemical isolation, and sample clean‑up using blending, shaking, Soxhlet extraction, digestion, SPE, distillation/condensation, liquid‑liquid partitioning, and chemical derivatization.

Operate laboratory apparatus including blenders, nitrogen‑ and roto‑evaporators, shakers, pH meters, and centrifuges.

Independently document and prepare reagents and analytical working standards according to current SOPs.

Extract samples and prepare reagents according to documented methods and SOPs.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in gas chromatography, GCMS, and mass spectrometry.

Experience with tandem mass spectrometry and gas chromatography reaction monitoring.

Knowledge of Agilent and Masshunter software.

Expertise in sample preparation and extraction techniques.

Familiarity with chromatographic separation and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related science from a four‑year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in inorganic and analytical chemistry.

Troubleshooting skills in GC analysis.

Ability to work with laboratory equipment such as balances and pipettes.

Work Environment The role is based in a laboratory setting, utilizing general laboratory equipment and technologies. Employees enjoy designated free parking downtown.

Job Type & Location Permanent position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay And Benefits Pay range: $52,000.00 per year.
