Summary Responsible for the sales, management and servicing of social catering functions on property, including wedding ceremonies, receptions, rehearsal dinners, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and social parties such as birthdays, anniversaries and graduations. Drive increased business and revenue through aggressive sales techniques, prompt follow‑up, continuous profitability evaluation, and maximizing F&B and room rental revenues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Solicit new and existing accounts to exceed revenue goals via telephone prospecting, trade shows, networking calls, site inspections and written communication.

Utilize internet and e‑commerce channels to produce creative, effective, timely responses to all inquiries.

Understand banquet event orders, event resumes and other internal communications needed to produce exceptional events.

Evaluate every catering opportunity to maximize revenue and profitability while exceeding customer expectations.

Research competitors’ products, services and pricing to develop strategic business plans.

Maximize revenue by selling all resort facets to existing and potential clients, including room rental, A/V and other opportunities.

Sell to diverse market segments.

Participate actively in industry organizations (NACE, MPI) and community activities to maintain awareness and create booking opportunities.

Apply knowledge of sales and negotiation techniques, closing skills, and interpersonal rapport.

Conduct hotel site inspections and client presentations.

Participate in trade shows and sales blitzes.

Leverage creative skills to provide innovative set‑ups, menus and functions for groups; collaborate with the chef on specialty menu pricing.

Work closely with Banquets for operations and event execution, promptly evaluating alternatives and making decisions.

Provide overall direction, coordination and ongoing evaluation of operating catering events, ensuring complete execution of banquet orders.

Use computers (including Delphi, Word, Excel) effectively.

Coordinate with outside vendors to meet client satisfaction for all events.

Comply with attendance rules and maintain a regular work schedule.

Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers.

Maintain positive relationships with business accounts and key industry organizations; source new business opportunities.

Communicate with internal departments to ensure client needs are met.

Maximize revenue to meet or exceed revenue and room night goals set by management.

Respond promptly to potential client inquiries.

Participate in daily business reviews, training and other sales meetings.

Collaborate with other departments to provide quality customer service.

Organize follow‑up tasks, monitor calls promptly.

Prepare reports and an annual sales & marketing plan accurately and on time.

Manage multiple tasks simultaneously for optimal productivity.

Proactively solicit wedding and social business for the resort.

Actively manage existing accounts and seek new clients to generate repeat business.

Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities This role co‑supervises 1–2 team members.

Qualifications

At least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and a clean MVR for 3 years.

Demonstrated ability to develop and execute action plans to close target accounts or market segments.

Strong negotiation, judgment, and interpersonal skills across departments.

Minimum of 3 years sales experience in social business within a developed market.

Strong, assertive leadership with proven team‑leading experience.

Intermediate computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, Delphi).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four‑year college.

Three years’ experience in the hotel industry managing catering and conference services.

Language Skills Ability to read, interpret and write routine reports, safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals; effectively speak before groups of customers or employees.

Computer Skills Proficiency in Word and knowledge of Delphi.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regular sitting, talking, hearing; frequent standing, walking, use of hands; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; lifting/moving up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Moderate noise level, typical indoor hospitality setting.
