NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM), Norfolk, Virginia, United States, 23500
Sells general merchandise to customers exercising professional selling techniques. Works as part of a sales team to provide service that anticipates and exceeds customer expectations. Assists in all aspects of ensuring full operation of the Food and Beverage Convenience Bar, including opening and closing the bar, preparing, displaying, replenishing goods, and cleaning stations and equipment as necessary.
Responsibilities
Greets and engages customers, assists selection, suggests complementary items, offers product warranties.
Interacts with customers and coworkers professionally, adhering to dress code and supporting sales team.
Becomes knowledgeable about merchandise, features, pricing, warranty coverage, and communicates product information.
Maintains stocked and organized areas, reports status to supervisors, participates in department meetings.
Completes sales transactions efficiently, thanks customers for patronage.
Performs cash register transactions accurately.
Advises customers of sales events, services, and NEXCARD account benefits.
Follows NEX store policies, handles returns and problems consistently.
Maintains awareness to deter theft and provide excellent service.
Unpacks, stages, moves merchandise, assists with displays, ids inventories.
Completes inventory paperwork accurately.
Participates in commission and gainsharing incentive programs.
Lifts up to 25 lbs. for job duties.
Food & Beverage Bar Duties (Applicable to Minimarts)
Open and close the Food and Beverage Convenience Bar.
Ensure all equipment is turned on during opening and off during closing.
Preheat and display products in heated merchandiser.
Replenish products and condiments, ensure sufficient goods for customers.
Time/dated products at close of business in refrigerator.
Clean small wares/equipment daily and at closing, date food & beverage products.
Monitor refrigerator/freezer temperatures at least three times daily.
Attend a 4-hour food safety training initially, then annual refresher.
Qualifications
No experience required.
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
