Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Marine Diesel Mechanic to join our team as a Road Mechanic. In this role, you will provide on-site diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of heavy-duty marine diesel engines and related systems. This position requires travel to marinas, shipyards, and other waterfront locations to service our diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnosis & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair heavy-duty marine diesel engines (e.g., Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Perkins, John Deere, etc.), transmissions, and propulsion systems.
Maintenance: Conduct scheduled maintenance, including PM needing mechanic qualifications, fuel system cleaning, and cooling system flushes, ensuring equipment reliability.
On-Site Service: Provide mobile repair services, equipped with a company service truck, while maintaining professionalism at client locations.
Electrical Systems: Diagnose and repair marine electrical systems, including alternators, starters, batteries, and controls.
Hydraulic Systems: Service and repair hydraulic systems used in marine applications.
Documentation: Complete work orders, inspection reports, and service documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, both on-site and during travel.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in the marine industry.
Certification: Trade certification in heavy-duty diesel mechanics (preferred but not mandatory).
Technical Skills: Proficient in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, and propulsion systems. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software.
Driving License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.), work in confined spaces, and tolerate various weather conditions.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication for client interaction and report writing.
Availability: Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including weekends and emergencies, as needed.

Ability to work both in groups and individually to meet goals and to develop strong working relationships with internal and external customers and team members.
