Radiation Protection Team Leader (Radiation Protection Manager 3) – Nevada
Utilize your radiation protection (RP) and management skills to provide leadership and oversight for RP programs at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). You will work closely with Primary and Secondary Real Estate Operations Permit holders, Division Leaders, and other managers to support science and engineering programs such as Accelerator Operations and Weapons. Your role includes supervising other RP professionals, solving radiological issues, and ensuring the safety and health of employees and the greater community. Responsibilities
Provide oversight of RP program implementation, including development of policies, procedures, and system enhancements. Act as an advisor and lead collaborative efforts of project teams to address facility processes, hazards, and site‑specific hazard assessments. Interface with engineering and operations staff to develop procedures, training, and technical reports for RP staff. Design and ensure safety and security protocols, implementing Integrated Safety Management principles. Identify and implement RP policy or operational changes to meet Department of Energy (DOE) criteria and other regulatory requirements. Manage activities of individual contributors and direct reports, including hiring/onboarding, performance management, development, recognition, and budget forecasting. Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Physical Science, or a related field and a minimum of five years related experience (or equivalent education/experience). Experience influencing the development of RP organization objectives and long‑range goals. Experience advising subordinate staff and leading cooperative efforts on facility processes and hazards. Experience designing safety and security protocols and implementing Integrated Safety Management. Experience ensuring compliance with DOE criteria and other regulatory requirements. Experience managing direct reports and maintaining inclusive work environments. Desired Qualifications
Advanced degree in a related field or current Health Physicist certification from the American Board of Health Physicists (ABHP). Knowledge of effective change‑management principles and experience leading organizational change. Knowledge of DOE and/or LANL missions, culture, and requirements. Active DOE "Q" or other Top Secret clearance. Location
This position is physically located at the Nevada Test Site, 65 miles north of Las Vegas, Nevada. Benefits
