USPI El Paso Day Surgery
in El Paso, TX seeks a motivated Materials Manager. The facility has five OR rooms and one treatment room, performing outpatient procedures across several specialties. Position requires weekdays only—no holidays, weekends, or on‑call. Early mornings or late evenings may be requested based on surgical schedule.
Job Summary Responsible for the entire materials management process, including inventory control, ordering, receipt, stocking, and disposal of all medical supplies and equipment. Provides support to the surgical team and maintains patient care standards per state policies and facility guidelines. May have additional duties as assigned by the Administrator.
Responsibilities
Order and maintain all medical inventory; procure miscellaneous supplies for the center.
Perform quarterly inventory accounting.
Check in incoming supplies per invoice and purchase order, deliver to appropriate location, account for back orders, and prepare paperwork for the Administrator.
Adhere to center policies and demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
Follow standards, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for peri‑operative nursing care.
Research and obtain pricing/quotes for medical equipment and supplies; maintain files per USPI procurement requirements.
Coordinate receipt of damaged equipment and facilitate prompt repair or replacement.
Remain calm and function as a team member during stressful or crisis situations.
Understand the unique needs of each patient age group; complete all educational requirements assigned by USPI or management.
Maintain hazardous materials inventories and logs; follow OSHA and other blood‑borne pathogen standards.
Manage the Medical Equipment Program: acquisition, maintenance, inventory, and disposal.
Participate in professional development activities and use proper body mechanics and aseptic technique.
Manage Utility Management Program (oxygen, VCU pumps, air filters, security alarms).
Work directly with the Nurse Manager and Administrator; keep them informed of day‑to‑day situations.
Submit invoices to BOM promptly, especially at month‑end for accruals.
Perform additional duties as required or assigned, and assist in the OR when needed.
Follow employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent (CST or six months of experience).
Current CPR certification.
Demonstrated clinical competency.
Computer skills.
Experience in materials management in an OR setting.
