Renewables Asset Manager, Commercial Strategy - Energy Storage
Locations:
FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)
This is an opportunity to join an industry-leading renewable energy venture and IPP with strong private equity backing, focused on developing and executing dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. The company has accumulated over 9GW of projects and is in an accelerated expansion phase.
The Energy Storage Asset Manager will join a growing Asset Management Division, a creative team focused on energy storage/battery storage asset management, operations & maintenance (O&M), energy trading strategies, and real-time operations.
The role involves leading commercial asset management and technical engineering optimization initiatives for renewable energy battery storage assets across a nationwide utility-scale renewable portfolio. It also includes pioneering the build-out of a proprietary energy storage management platform.

Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of utility-scale battery storage assets across ISO/RTOs to ensure optimal performance post-COD.
Review and recommend on commercial agreements such as PPA, O&M, interconnection, leases, project financing, and entity structures.
Lead asset-based accounting initiatives, analyzing operational budgets in collaboration with the accounting team.
Provide technical expertise to project teams on design, contractual terms, warranties, and risk assessments.
Offer commercial insights on P&Ls, budgeting, energy deal structures, and cash management.
Plan operational outages, switching, and maintenance to minimize downtime.
Oversee compliance with NERC/FERC and ISO/RTO requirements, managing third-party service providers.
Qualifications:
Experience in utility-scale renewable asset management, portfolio management, or operations; commercial asset management experience is REQUIRED; engineering background is a plus.
Proven success in asset management, including financial performance optimization, O&M management, and energy platform experience.
Strong background in P&Ls, budgeting, energy deal structures, PPAs, and cash management.
Experience managing third-party O&M contractors and service providers.
Knowledge of NERC, FERC, ISO/RTO compliance, outage, and switching management.
Familiarity with SCADA systems and plant control systems.
Ability to review commercial agreements is a significant advantage.
Ideal candidates have held roles such as Sr. Portfolio Manager, Asset Manager, Asset Management Lead, or similar in renewable or clean energy companies.
