About the Role Three Ships is seeking a
Senior Associate, Business Operations & Strategy
to work closely with senior leadership across the firm and its portfolio companies on high‑impact strategic and operational initiatives.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in
consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or operations
who is excited by ambiguity and wants broad exposure to how businesses are built and scaled. You’ll support leaders in framing complex questions, evaluating trade‑offs, and translating insight into execution across multiple businesses and stages of growth.
The scope of work will evolve over time and may span strategy, operations, growth initiatives, and special projects, depending on business needs. This is a true generalist role with meaningful ownership and visibility.
Preferred Location North Carolina, preferably in Raleigh or Charlotte.
Your Day‑to‑Day
Partner with senior leaders at Three Ships and within portfolio companies to support strategic and operational priorities
Frame ambiguous business questions into structured analyses and clear recommendations
Analyze financial, operational, and performance data to identify risks, opportunities, and improvement areas
Support initiatives from concept through execution, including pilots, process design, and rollout planning
Help prioritize initiatives based on impact, effort, and strategic alignment
Create concise, executive‑ready materials (memos, analyses, presentations) to inform decision‑making
Act as a cross‑functional connector, helping drive alignment and follow‑through across teams
Identify opportunities to apply automation and AI tools to improve efficiency, insights, and execution speed
About You
Bachelor’s degree with strong academic and professional performance
3–5 years of experience in consulting, banking, strategy, or related growth‑focused roles
Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills; able to structure complex problems
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment
Strong communicator who can influence senior executives with data‑driven insights
AI super‑user and comfortable testing new LLMs and AI tools to create efficiencies and unlock opportunities
Self‑starter with curiosity, drive, and a bias toward action
Experience in growth, analytics, or digital businesses is a plus, but not required
