Responsibilities
A seasoned Property Specialist/collection curator and exhibit and event tech with five years of relevant experience (preferred) to manage and care for NASA artifacts and exhibits such as moon rocks, space suits and outreach displays in support of the NASA Communication Services (NCS) Contract at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
Use experience and judgment to plan, account for, control, care for, maintain and manage both government furnished and contractor acquired government property in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations, FAR 52.245‑1 and the NASA FAR Supplement 1852.245‑71.
Assist the manager/supervisor and exhibit fabricators in the safe installation of exhibits, event set‑up and tear‑downs and the safety of daily shop operations.
Assist with warehouse activities such as locating inventory, assembly and disassembly of visual effects and artifacts, following procedures to properly document inventory in and out of the facility.
Assist loading vehicles, driving assets to events and venues such as airports, sporting events, etc.
Carry equipment and assets to locations, following instructions for set‑up and tear‑down.
Work in an active warehouse around machinery and chemicals/paints.
Perform property self‑assessments and ensure the Property Management System remains in an approved status.
Operate operations related to Government Property administration covering FAR property outcomes.
Care for, control, store and maintain artifacts.
Plan maintenance, repair and damage mitigation plans for the collection.
Document and track property out on loan.
Develop metrics related to internal control goals and objectives for program/project/event audits.
Implement program control documents to ensure Property Custodians and end users have the property knowledge needed to operate government property.
Prepare all aspects related to Property Survey Reports, ensuring sufficient information is provided to support a clear understanding of the circumstances surrounding loss, damage or destruction of Government property, developing, implementing and monitoring corrective actions.
Develop, maintain and implement property procedures covering the property outcomes.
Ensure adherence to applicable regulations, policies and procedures.
Generate routine and/or ad‑hoc reports for management and customers.
Directly interface with management, customers and the public.
Position is onsite with outreach tasks at public or community events.
Movement of items on/off shelves, set‑up and tear‑down of items at events will be required.
Some travel required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization from an accredited college or university.
Must have five years of relevant experience.
Proficient in
Oral and written communications.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Advanced problem solving.
Ability to work independently and on a team.
Understanding and applying FAR 52.245‑1 and NFS 1852.245‑71 requirements.
Preferred NPMA Property certification, such as CPPS, CPPA or CPPM.
Preferred knowledge of industry leading standards, such as ASTM E53.
Knowledge of auditing techniques.
Knowledge of best practices for care, management, storage and transport of heritage artifacts.
Experience with the Adobe Suite and operation of large shop tools desired, but not required.
Experience in set‑up/tear‑down, assembly and construction of exhibits desired but not required.
Ability to understand verbal and written directions for care of physical displays.
Physical Requirements Must be able to lift more than 20 pounds and stand for long periods of time. The physical demands described herein are representative of those which may need to be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in an office environment or a warehouse. If required, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must have hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. This position may require an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move more than 20 pounds.
