Job Summary The primary duties of a Mould Maker include repairing mold equipment using tools and equipment to weld, file, grind, vent, polish, letter cut, and perform lathe, mill, and other work. The role focuses on maintaining mold equipment to specifications and ensuring safe, efficient operation.
Main Position Responsibilities
Weld, grind, file, machine, and polish mold equipment and return equipment to specifications.
Grind lathe tools and perform lathe work as required.
Run surface grinder when reducing mold equipment.
Use manual lathe and milling machines for repairing mold equipment.
Maintain welding torches and gauges in safe, proper working condition.
Use gauges to verify equipment dimensions.
Keep work area clean and follow safe working practices.
Inspect mold equipment when needed.
Notify supervisor of irregularities in materials and mold equipment.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in a production manufacturing environment.
Technical school degree desired (equivalent education or experience may be considered).
CNC programming and operations preferred.
Welding and blueprint reading experience preferred.
Knowledge of basic safety procedures.
Ability to follow directions and manage multiple tasks.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
Capability to prioritize and plan work activities.
Demonstrated accuracy, thoroughness, and commitment to quality and safety.
Independently maintain a clean, organized work area.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Basic computer knowledge.
Environment and Physical Requirements
This is an hourly position in a union environment.
Candidates must be able to swing shifts alternating between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Must tolerate extreme hot temperatures.
100% indoor work environment.
Noise level: 70 dB.
Exposure to dusts of lead, nickel, chromium, graphite.
Comply with Environmental and Food Safety standards as per plant policies and programs.
