Senior Accounting Analyst – Deriva Energy
Deriva Energy is a leading Independent Power Producer operating and developing more than 6 GW of wind, solar, and storage projects across the United States. This in‑person position is located in Charlotte, NC and requires a schedule of four days in the office each week.
Summary The Financial Accounting team partners closely with the business to support a growing portfolio of non‑regulated renewable assets. The Senior Accounting Analyst is responsible for monthly close, account reconciliation, cash analysis, SOX controls and other assigned accounting tasks. The role requires strong attention to detail, process improvement drive, and a solid foundation in general accounting principles.
Responsibilities
Perform monthly general ledger closing for assigned projects and financings.
Perform cash analysis for certain payments from assigned projects.
Complete account reconciliations for assigned solar and wind operating projects and for financing accounts.
Analyze financial information, recognize significant variances, trends and irregularities, understand causes/drivers, and summarize findings for management.
Interact and support site operating personnel, corporate personnel, external auditors, vendors and consultants as required.
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
Support the growth of the business by developing new accounting systems, controls, and processes.
Become knowledgeable of assigned projects and portfolios by reviewing financing and partnership agreements.
Complete ad‑hoc requests for internal and external parties or special projects as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
Three (3) or more years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in a related field.
Desired Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or working toward CPA.
Five (5) or more years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in a related field.
Strong technical skills and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
Public accounting experience (Big Four or large regional).
Experience with company consolidation and limited‑liability company/partnership accounting.
Fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices and procedures applied consistently.
Experience using NetSuite, IFS, OneStream, SSAS Cubes, or similar financial applications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power BI and PowerPoint.
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Proven problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Team‑oriented, fostering positive relationships with teammates and business partners.
