Role Summary AES Clean Energy is seeking a Transmission Strategy Market Lead for the ERCOT region, and possibly additional markets. The lead will serve as the principal Transmission Strategy leader, responsible for transmission planning and nodal production cost modeling, and for integrating strategy across AES teams.
Responsibilities
Set transmission‑focused market‑wide strategy in all Continental U.S. energy markets.
Integrate strategy across Development, Commercial, Execution, and other AES teams.
Prioritize greenfield efforts and project acquisition pipeline.
Assess network impacts and deliverability risks and opportunities for specific projects.
Conduct in‑house and consultant‑supported load‑flow studies.
Support all stages from greenfield prospecting through late‑stage interconnection studies and agreement execution.
Qualifications
Deep relevant experience in transmission planning, market design, interconnection policy, resource adequacy and/or market operations. Experience with multiple RTOs and non‑RTO regions is a plus.
Experience personally running power flow and stability analysis (e.g., powerGEM TARA, Powerworld, GE PSLF, Siemens PSS/E). Demonstrated project management experience preferred.
Experience personally running nodal production cost modeling (PROMOD, UPLAN, GE MAPS, Aurora), evaluating dispatch trends, curtailment trends and LMP trends.
Experience with ISO/RTO/TO transmission planning, generation interconnection, and related stakeholder processes. Knowledge of resource adequacy processes is a plus.
Experience reviewing and negotiating Transmission Services Agreements (TSAs) preferred; assessment of wheeling strategies beneficial.
Experience with renewable energy development is beneficial.
Able to create a positive teamwork environment and communicate effectively in both commercial and technical venues.
Ability to present complex technical content simply for non‑technical audiences.
Innovative problem‑solving skills.
Willingness to travel as needed (not expected to exceed 10%).
AI and/or Automation experience is a plus.
Vision for success and ability to implement effective action plans.
