What We Are Looking For As an AI Strategist you will be the project lead for customer engagements. Working with a technical lead, you’ll drive a motivated team of engineers and researchers focused on solving our customers’ most critical problems. Your mission is to own business outcomes, ensure that the team creates value for the customer, and earn customer trust. You will manage the entire customer engagement from start to finish.

In a typical engagement you will begin by understanding customer problems and desired outcomes, embed yourself in their complex workflows to identify opportunities where AI can solve pain points, scope a meaningful project, and lead your team to deliver a high‑quality system with accurate models. Because we care about driving real value, your engagement doesn’t stop with system delivery—you are also responsible for driving user adoption and iterating to ensure the product remains valuable to the end user.

Key Responsibilities

Earn Customer Trust: Demonstrate empathy and serve as the face of Distyl, managing relationships from end‑users to executive stakeholders.

End‑to‑end Workflow & Outcome Ownership: Identify the most valuable problems, embed yourself in the customer’s workflow, and ensure high accuracy and reliability to achieve the desired outcomes. Take full ownership and accountability for the engagement’s success.

Leadership: Jointly responsible with a technical lead for leading a team to deliver results to the customer.

Data Analysis: Navigate noisy enterprise data to identify how AI can create reliable outcomes despite real‑world constraints.

User Adoption: Onboard users to our enterprise applications and platform, ensuring they realize value.

Product Feedback: Represent the customer’s voice, surfacing pain points that drive future product improvements.

What We Require

Operational Experience: Proven record in managing complex projects or strategic leadership roles with client‑facing experience in AI or technology integration.

Exceptional Communication Skills: Capable of earning customer trust and liaising effectively between clients and internal teams.

User Empathy and Customer Focus: Deep sense of user empathy and a customer‑obsessed approach, ensuring solutions are technically sound and aligned with customer needs.

Thrives in Ambiguity: Ability to identify critical problems, define outcomes, and create structure amid competing priorities.

AI Passion: Passion for AI and optimism about its potential to impact the world.

Coding Experience: Proficiency in programming, scripting, or statistical packages (e.g., Python, R, Matlab, SQL).

Travel: Ability to travel 25‑75%, varying by team.

Note:

Distyl is a hybrid working environment and requires in‑office collaboration 3 days a week. We have offices in San Francisco, CA and New York, NY, and this role is available in either location.
