Eligibility and Requirements
Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university in a criminal justice related field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Two years’ experience in law enforcement or as an investigator.
Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Ability to travel within 20th Judicial Circuit, including occasional transportation of clients.
Physical demand: mobile, drive, stand for extended periods; lift up to 10 pounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct field investigations of felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile cases.
Photograph evidence, prepare diagrams, charts, and graphs.
Request records from agencies and obtain releases from clients.
Oversee investigative requests from attorneys in a timely manner.
Locate and interview witnesses and clients; gather statements.
Locate clients per agency guidelines; interview clients in jail and juvenile detention.
Serve subpoenas and testify in court.
Transport clients occasionally.
Document work in agency database and maintain records.
Communicate with defendants requesting agency services; complete applications.
Perform background checks.
Collaborate with criminal justice agencies (Clerk of Court, jails, etc.).
Attend first appearance hearings for newly arrested clients.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Ability To
Demonstrate ethical conduct, confidentiality, and attorney‑client privilege.
Maintain professional appearance, work ethic, and composure under stress.
Exhibit analytical skills and research/organize/plan investigative findings.
Manage multiple assignments and projects.
Communicate effectively with diverse clients, witnesses, and staff.
Apply investigative techniques, interviewing skills, and observation techniques.
Prioritize work, meet deadlines, solve problems, and recommend solutions.
Understand criminal justice system, legal terminology, and relevant rules.
Document case files accurately.
Operate cameras, recording devices, scanners, and office equipment.
Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Write accurately and follow instructions.
Travel to various locations as needed.
