Director of Health & Wellness, LPN Morningside House Senior Living is seeking a highly motivated licensed practical nurse to lead our Health & Wellness department. This role reports directly to the Executive Director and is pivotal in ensuring top‑quality care for our residents.

Position Summary Under the supervision of the Executive Director, this position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of nursing care and services provided to residents. The director ensures that MEM standards and state requirements for resident care are met and that all policies and procedures are consistently followed.

Essential Responsibilities

Oversee all day‑to‑day functions of the health and wellness department, including resident care and personnel.

Adhere to and lead staff in complying with Policies and Procedures (P&P), Morningside House Standards, regulatory practices, and state and federal regulations for senior living facilities.

Serve as the nursing representative to state and county licensing agencies.

Supervise health and wellness staff, including hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary issues, orientations, and ongoing training.

Assist the marketing department with community tours, and exhibit excellent customer service skills in dealing with prospective residents and their families both in person and over the telephone.

Oversight and completion of all requests for assessments to determine admission eligibility.

Ensure residents meet criteria for admission/readmission eligibility based on regulatory guidelines and Morningside House Policies and Procedures (P&P).

Maintain ongoing management of current residents, including completion of routine wellness visits, monitoring changes in residents’ health status, verifying physician orders (written and verbal), and ensuring signatures are obtained per regulatory compliance.

Transcribe to Medication Administration Record (MAR)/Treatment Administration Record (TAR).

Fax all medication orders to pharmacy.

Ensure that all medication is available for administration.

Communicate with family/POA/physician on residents’ condition and changes in status, unexpected occurrences, and communicate the same to staff via change‑in‑status log, Shift Supervisor report, and all other required documentation.

Ensure adequate trained staff are on duty at all times and notify the Executive Director for approval of overtime if necessary.

Oversee staff training and full compliance in all areas, including fire drills/evacuations/disaster protocol and infection control as per company P&P and state regulation.

Ensure safe evacuation of all residents and staff in an emergency.

Attend all community and administration meetings as requested, including service plan, level of service, department, resident council, monthly health and wellness, and “stand‑up” meetings.

Assist and coordinate the development and ongoing training for all nursing staff to maintain or exceed compliance with Morningside Standards, P&P, and state and federal regulations.

Participate in the Manager on Duty rotation.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must have a valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.

A Bachelor’s Degree from a four‑year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have a valid Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Must have supervisory experience in a senior living setting.
