Position Description Currently, HGL is seeking an experienced Construction Quality Control Specialist for our St. Louis, MO project sites.
Responsibilities
Provide quality oversight for Project activities at up to two different jobsite locations in the St. Louis, Missouri, area.
Work closely within the Quality Department to ensure daily operations follow site procedures, plans, and best management practices.
Perform daily and periodic quality inspections across all phases of construction - including work processes, materials, equipment, supplies, and services - ensure compliance with project plans, scopes of work, client contract, subcontracts, and other project directives.
Collect, review for accuracy and completion, and combine deliverables from various project departments into a single Daily Quality Control Report package that fully documents the daily activities.
Implement the USACE Three-Phase Inspection process, including holding Preparatory Inspection Meetings and performing Initial and Follow-up Inspections of Definable Features of Work (DFOW).
Coordinate with the project team (internal and external) to identify and resolve deficiencies in work practices, material testing, documentation, and site process.
Enter and update project-specific information into the USACE Resident Management System (RMS 3.0) as required.
Required Skills
2-year associate’s degree in related field
5+ years’ experience in a construction or quality-related field performing levels of observation and evaluation of activities.
Demonstratable experience in technical writing, review, and editing.
Strong work ethic with the desire and ability to pay close attention to details.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
Ability to observe field activities to compare to project plans for accuracy and compliance.
Ability to produce thorough, objective documentation of observations, inspections, and surveillances. High attention to detail when completing and reviewing and validating quality-related documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with project staff, Client QA, Project Management, Construction Management, and Engineering.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction scopes of work, specifications, and drawings.
Ability to review multiple documents to identify discrepancies and ensure consistency, uniformity, and accuracy across deliverables. Ability to maintain organized, complete, and up-to-date project documents and records.
Capability in maintaining organized, and current documents and records.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to collaborate across multiple departments to ask questions, challenge discrepancies or nonconforming conditions, and drive issues through to resolution.
Preferred Skills
4-year BS degree in Construction Management, Industrial Management, Environmental Science, Geology, Accounting, Business, or comparable degree.
2+ years’ experience in a construction or quality related field performing levels of observation and evaluation of activities. Demonstrable experience in technical writing, review, and editing.
Experience with USACE RMS.
Experience implementing USACE Three-Phase Control System.
Completion of OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM) training.
