Diesel B Mechanic – Amerit Fleet Solutions
Location: San Fernando, CA. The role requires high proficiency in heavy‑duty diesel engine diagnosis and repairs, forklift and pallet jack maintenance, and fleet maintenance operations, including electrical, hydraulic, preventive maintenance, and DOT inspections.
Pay and Hours Pay:
$34.06–$35.06 per hour (union contract).
Shift:
Tuesday–Friday 1:30 pm–10 pm; Saturday 10 am–7 pm.
CDL:
Required, or 90 days to obtain.

Essential Duties
Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on a fleet of light‑, medium‑, and heavy‑duty trucks, including CAT equipment, generators, aerials, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment.
Repair diesel engines, brakes, tires, AC, and perform routine PM services.
Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer.
Conduct safety inspections of equipment and produce required documentation.
Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
Inspect and work on the underparts of vehicles.
Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance.
Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install parts on vehicles.
Interact with clients via email and phone as needed.
Perform other duties as required.
Key Competencies
At least 3 years of vehicle maintenance experience or an auto or diesel technical diploma.
Ase certifications preferred.
Commercial Driver’s License (class required; time to obtain provided).
Ability to operate a manual‑transmission vehicle for diagnostic purposes.
Must provide own hand tools and toolbox.
Knowledge of handheld scan tools and vehicle diagnostics processes.
Ability to read schematics and understand diagnostics procedures.
Proficient computer skills, including Excel, Word, fleet management systems, and email.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions
Exposure to heavy traffic while performing duties.
Exposure to dust, diesel fumes, and noise.
Exposure to chemicals, oils, grease, or other irritants.
Access any area of equipment or vehicle to perform maintenance.
Ability to move and position heavy objects.
Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and crawl to repair vehicles.
Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
