Public Information Investigator

Salary Range: $85,500.00 – $157,300.00. Positions are funded by the California Department of Industrial Relations.

Labor Compliance Representative
Under the supervision of a Deputy Labor Commissioner III, the incumbent conducts intake consultation assessments for the public, prepares referrals, educates on labor laws, and assesses violations.

Responsibilities

Conduct intake consultation assessments with the public for various programs.

Develop and prepare documented referrals to other units.

Educate the public on labor laws.

Apply theories to assess violations on liable employers.

Qualifications

Fluency in Spanish required; must pass the Bilingual Proficiency assessment.

Pass the recent Labor Compliance Representative (LCR) exam (new exam issued Dec 15 2025).

Submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ).

Must be a California State employee or meet list eligibility.

Special Requirements

In the SOQ, describe a time when you used your Spanish language skills to assist a member of the public.
