Job Description
Truck Centers, Inc. is continually growing, and that means we have a need for Diesel Mechanic Apprentices to join our team and learn the trade! Diesel Mechanic Apprentices will have mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn and grow in a thriving shop environment.
Our apprentices have the unique experience to get their tools and toolbox provided for them upon entry
so that they don't have to worry about that expense out the gate! These tools and toolbox are theirs to keep if they stay with Truck Centers for 2 years. As an apprentice, you must have the ability to follow documented processes, motivation to continue to learn your craft, and steady performance in a deadline-driven environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Perform consistent, high-quality work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy according to OEM, warranty, and dealership standards.
Read repair orders, observe and listen to vehicle operation, obtain diagnostics information, identify root cause malfunctions, plan work procedures, and perform necessary repairs on a vehicle as authorized.
Perform general minor system repairs, including steering, brakes, suspension, HVAC, and basic electrical.
Examine and perform necessary repairs to driveshaft, wheel end components, and air intake.
Complete thorough PM services, DOT inspections, and pre-delivery inspections with little supervision.
Write thorough, organized documentation of diagnostic findings, repair status, and work performed to aid customer communication and warranty processing.
Communicate with Parts department to obtain and verify necessary parts as well as Shop Foreman and Service Administration team regarding status updates or requests.
Determine warranty claim status and complete necessary steps, documentation, and supplemental information to ensure warranty recovery.
Properly tag, save, and turn in parts requested by the customer or under warranty repair.
Perform quality checks of all work performed.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment by respecting and returning shared company tools and equipment to the proper place, removing hazards and obstructions in your workspace, continually maintaining a clean bay area, and following protocols to keep customer vehicles clean.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Driver's License with ability to meet insurance requirements is required
Class B or Class A CDL with air brake endorsement is highly preferred
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and commitment to providing quality work
Welding and fabrication skills are a plus
Must participate in a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen
WHAT WE OFFER Pay Range: $17.77-$26.65 per hour
