is a paving contractor operating in the Central Texas region with paving crews, HMA, aggregate, trucking, milling, and quality control. Our operations complete heavy highway and civil projects throughout Texas. Position Overview The Aggregate Plant Operator will work closely with the Plant, Maintenance, and Management Teams to ensure consistent and high-level functionality of all aspects of aggregate operations with direction provided by his/her direct manager to minimize downtime and optimize production. The ideal candidate has experience with quarrying, processing, loading, shipping, and a thorough understanding of all areas related to aggregate work. They should be able to address mechanical issues, monitor standards at the plant, and ensure the safe practices of all employees.
Key Responsibilities
Starting up and shutting down the plant including managing flow of materials.
Operating plant control systems to adjust production parameters based on specifications.
Adhering to all safety procedures, ensuring proper personal protective equipment usage, and reporting any safety concerns.
Maintaining detailed logs of production data.
Collaboration - Working closely with management and maintenance technicians to identify and address issues impacting production.
Before departing work each day, ensure that the area is neat, clean and orderly; all equipment is stored in their proper place and locked up appropriately for safety.
Additional responsibilities as may be assumed or assigned as needed in support of our company's effort to achieve client loyalty.
Qualifications
1-3+ years of qualified experience including plant operation and aggregate industry knowledge
Understanding of diagnostics, maintenance, and operation of aggregate quarry machines
Mechanical aptitude and in-depth knowledge of industrial machinery
Basic math skills to calculate material proportions
Ability to work in a demanding, fast‑paced environment
Physical ability to work outdoors in various conditions and stand for extended periods of time
Must be organized with a detail‑oriented mindset
Must be positive, friendly, and professional
Ability to work well with others in a group or one‑on‑one setting
Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Industrial experience - Previous experience working in an industrial setting, preferably within an aggregate plant.
Technical skills - Ability to use equipment, hand tools, and power tools effectively
Mechanical aptitude - Basic understanding of mechanical systems within the aggregate plant to diagnose areas of concern.
Problem‑solving skills - Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and strategize with management and maintenance teams to implement solutions.
Safety awareness - Commitment to following all safety protocols and regulations.
Ability to engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
Must demonstrate professional communication in reaching out to employees and managers for needed documents
Willingness to take on additional tasks and responsibilities as they arise
Exhibit excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize various tasks and complete them in a timely manner
Able to perform duties independently
Working knowledge of aggregate plants and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred
Familiarity with MSHA and OSHA regulations, a plus
Working Conditions
Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required
Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas
Work will be performed in both a general warehouse environment as well as a construction site environment, which could include but not be limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Must be able to move over rough terrain on project sites
Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
Proper PPE is required at all times.
Requires periodic participation and attendance at company events and meetings
